Dear Peter
Thanks for your comment. I also found your note on the Languedoc Forum via my stats page. It would not have been our first choice to visit in August but as we have school age children we had to go during the holidays. I am assuming you are an ex-pat - lucky you! Friends of friends have moved to Lamalou les Bains not far from Olargues and we are told how lovely it is out of season. The most annoying part was the long traffic queues which was made extra difficult for us by our campsite location on the narrow strip of land between Sete and Agde with only one road in and out. As we love to visit places rather than just sit on the beach we would have chosen our site differently had we known, although Camping Castellas was good. Your comment on the best times to visit is useful and I will bear it in mind. Extreme heat we were expecting and were grateful that this year was unusual - and better than back home in London.
Thanks too for the link to the wonderful photos. I used a google search to find my pictures - still havent worked out how to post my own - but obviously didnt find any of yours.
Best wishes

I live in Languedoc.

It is always interesting to read accounts of peoples experiences visiting the area, and I've added a link to this blog from The Languedoc Page.

July & August can be very hot (although not this year) and are busy because of school holidays. Best avoided if possible !

Mid May to end June and September to mid October are good times to visit. Currently we have clear blue skies, cool evenings and 28C in the afternoons. The rugby players in Marseille have suffered this weekend.

I've got many photos of places you visited (and some of those you missed) here :
