(Elizabeth Blackadder – Coco sleeping 2003)
Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open drawer, empty shoe, anybody’s lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don’t care! Cats sleep anywhere.
(Eleanor Farjeon – 1881-1965)

I really think you should have bibliographic info in here… it would help a lot!
I really love her poem! I have admired cats since I was a baby. I hope people keep making beautiful poems about cats!!!

Hello Maggie
Thank you for your comment. I am so glad you like this poem, which is one of my all time favourites. If you click on the name ‘Eleanor Farjeon’ at the end of the poem it will take you to Wikipedia, where you can read some biographical information. There is other information available online for anyone who wants to search further – I usually prefer to do this rather than go into lots of detail myself. I have other cat poems that I will be posting from time to time, so keep looking in!
Best wishes
I thought that your poem was gorgious, absolutely wonderful!
I adore cats !

Thank you Rachel. There are other cat items on this site – check the sidebar for a quick link to them all.
Mine sleep in bed with me, on the fridge or the TV,
In the bookcase, in the bath, in the sink, on the hearth,
In front of my computer screen; the only place they haven’t been,
Is inside the washing machine.
