That’s what I was asking myself. I’m only an ordinary woman after all, living an ordinary life, in an ordinary part of north-east London, but a friend (thank you, ‘dreamer’) encouraged me to go ahead anyway…
Here are just a few words about myself for anyone who doesn’t know me and who might chance across this page…
As a Christian, I would hope to reflect on how my faith impacts on other areas of my life, sharing some of my discoveries and thoughts. I love exploring prayer and worship, how we can be better connected with God. Along with my church, I am thinking about ways of making Christianity relevant to people in the 21st Century – ‘Fresh Expressions’ or ‘new ways of being church’ are phrases that are often used. I care about matters of equality such as Fair Trade & Trade Justice and also have an interest in disability issues, especially epilepsy and severe learning difficulties (about which I have first hand experience).
I enjoy art (both being creative and the work of others), music (listening – many different types – and taking part, particularly singing), reading (again many different types), cooking and food, travel (especially to France) – and I am very fond of cats.
I expect my posts will be a mixture of items I have enjoyed, laughed at, feel passionately about and have been moved by – things that I want to record both for myself but also that might be worth sharing with others.
I may be ‘ordinary’ but I am also unique and grateful for the ‘hope eternal’ that Jesus gives.

I saw the tag ‘Walthamstow’ so I decided to see what it was all about. I used to work at the Inland Revenue in Church St/Hoe St. I have an Aunt who lives in Greenleaf Road, and as a young kid I used to go to Monica Andrews School of Dancing in St. Mary’s Road (or the road bang opposite W/stow tube station). Every year, the school used to give performances at Lloyd Park.
Your site reminded me that although I am a Tottenham girl at heart, Walthamstow featured a lot in my past.
Cheers!

Hi
You mention so many places and names I know well, of course, apart from the Dance School which I don’t recognise (may not be there any more?). Re Greenleaf Rd – not sure if you have picked up references in my blog to my church (St Luke’s in Greenleaf Rd) and the Parish of Walthamstow of which we are part. WordPress can be a small world!
Know Tottenham a little – my family are all Spurs fans.
Thanks for getting in touch.
I am glad that I found your blog.
I am going to be coming back often as I feel it will be a blessing.
Thank you,
God bless you,
Ray

Thanks for your kind words, Ray. I started the blog to record bits and pieces for myself. I saw no reason however why I couldnt make it public in case it was of help to others, but if what I write might be a blessing too that’s great.
Let’s keep looking to Jesus!
Hi there,
Thanks for the link! I really love your gallery. :)

Thank you! I was intrigued by your pages, Sarah and wanted to make sure I didn’t lose track of you so I could visit again. I have some recipes which I intend to add to mine in coming weeks. Glad you like the gallery. It needs changing again – I am trying to focus on a different artist or art theme – but I have been so busy in recently….!
Just stumbling along the internet road tonight, looking at St. Malo to which my wife and I will travel during our two month stay in France, and came across a note you must have posted on your blog regarding the tour de France which must have had one leg stop at this city. I subsequently read some of your blog. thank you for the refreshing stay. May I encourage you to glance at not only my art website cited but also my blog which I mention here.

The affinity I felt for your writing comes from the faith I believe we share. I served as a clergyman for 34 years and a denominational executive officer for six before retiring in July 2008. I have taken up my painting now with greater freedom and passion.
God bless you as you live and write for Him.

Dear Ron
Thank you for your lovely and encouraging email. It is always good to make contact with Christian brothers and sisters. I had a look at your blog and was interested to read about the Christian presence at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Here in East London – and living within five miles of the Olympic site – we are already gearing up for the 2012 Summer Games with the Church in East London also making plans. You might be interested to read our church magazine online http://www.parishofwalthamstow.wordpress.org which I have a big hand in, though the Olympic plans haven’t tricked down to parish level so no articles yet.
I am glad you found me via St Malo and I do hope that your trip later this year is enjoyable – and gives you lots of time for painting. With a whole two months in France there is lots to see and do and you should be able to cover the very best sights. If you are going down towards the Mediterranean you will find that I wrote extensively about our holiday there in 2007 – http://hopeeternal.wordpress.com/?s=%28highlights%29 We regularly go to France for our holiday and this year we are off to Brittany (Carnac) again later in the Summer. As usual I will be taking my sketchbook along. Painting and sketching is a great hobby, though get little time for it at the moment. Eventually, when my clergyman husband retires I hope there will be a little more time for my hobby. I was very taken with your art site and have bookmarked it to keep an eye on. I wish I could draw people so successfully! I find the art sites of others inspirational and it usually makes me want to get out the paints again.
I love how you have written that you are retired and ‘your faith and your values carry on’ on your site. Wishing you every happiness for a long and happy, ‘faithful’ and painterly retirement!
Every blessing!
