The Changing Room Gallery is a small exhibition space tucked away next to the cafe in Aveling Park, adjacent to Lloyd Park, Walthamstow, advertising itself as Waltham Forest’s Venue for Contemporary Visual Arts and Crafts. It provides a small space for local artists and groups to show their work from April to November, each show lasting for about a week. I picked up an exhibition booklet from the William Morris Gallery in Lloyd Park and called into the current show.
Anna Alcock is an artist printmaker originally from South Africa and I enjoyed her work, which was intricate and mostly with a lovely use of colour. I particularly liked this piece, a monoprint entitled Guardian Angel, for its colour and expressive rounded design.
Anna’s show finishes on 22nd April 2007 but she will be back from 5th-13th May 2007 with ‘Cuttlefish in Print’, a programme of workshops and demonstrations.
The whole varied programme of shows continues until 10th November and includes a show by Waltham Forest Arts Club from 2nd-11th August. In addition, the E17 Arts Trail, an annual local event, will take place from 1st to 9th September 2007.
I will drop in again…..
