This concert has long since gone, but I would heartily recommend the piece ‘Mr Fezziwig’s Christmas Party’ to choirs. (Music by Jonathan Rathbone & lyrics by Paul Whitnall). It is great fun to sing and lasts around 1 hour. This makes it an ideal piece for half of a Christmas concert with carols and other Christmas music forming the second half.

December 2007 Rowantree Choir Christmas Concert information:
Conductor Jonathan Rathbone – Baritone Soloist Mark Williams. The main item will be the world premiere of ‘Mr Fezziwig’s Christmas Party’ a new work by our conductor Jonathan Rathbone and choir member Paul Whitnall, (based on the passage from Charles Dickens‘ novel ‘A Christmas Carol’). This concert of seasonal goodies has a variety of well, and not so well, known Christmas carols and music, including some for audience participation, plus seasonal readings. Just a few works that are included are the hauntingly beautiful ‘Shepherd’s Farewell’ by Berlioz, traditional carol ‘In Dulci Jubilo’, the songs ‘Past 3 o’clock’ and ‘Saviour’s Day’ (recorded by Cliff Richard in 1990) and favourite Christmas song ‘Jingle Bells’ in a very jolly arrangment by Jonathan Rathbone.
