Orchies – Boulogne-sur-Mer (197km) Click for route map
Boulogne is one of those places that most people either go to on a day trip from England (something I did many years ago when at school) or pass through on the way to somewhere else further into France. I remember very little of the place from the school trip and feel that somehow we ought to pay Boulogne a longer visit. It is a very convenient distance for a short stop over when you have either arrived or are just about to depart (via ferry or Eurotunnel). Boulogne boasts an impressive Château Museum, the Porte des Dunes (old city gates) and the domed Basilica Cathédral of Notre-Dame de Boulogne-sur-Mer.
